NEUROPSYCHOLOGICAL AND PSYCHOLOGICAL ASSESSMENTS

Assessment and Evaluation for Adult or Child

These comprehensive reports provide guidance to parents, attorneys, courts, attorneys, and other stakeholders about the strength and abilities of an individual. This process results in a statement of degree of dis/ability, employability, educational needs, accommodations, modifications, with subsequent recommendations.

Evaluation report and interpretation will speak to qualification criteria as outlined in DSM V, but does not result in a medical diagnosis.

Purposes:

  • Parenting and custody decisions
  • Court ordered evaluation
  • School District requested (IEP and IEE) evaluations
  • Transition services (18-22 for DVR, DSHS, etc.)
  • Second Opinions
  • Strengths & Needs assessment
  • Special Education evaluations
  • Guardian ad Lidem and Court Visitor assessment

May include, but are not limited to:

  • Cognitive assessments, e.g. KABC, WISC, WJ, DAS, etc.
  • Academic assessments, e.g. KTEA, WJ, WIAT, etc.
  • Behavioral assessment, e.g. BASC, SRS, SDQ, etc.
  • Autism and social assessments, e.g. ABAS, Vineland, GARS etc.
  • ADHD assessments, e.g. Conners, Vanderbilt, etc.

Educational advocacy

You are not alone in this.

IEP meetings can be intimidating -- administrators, counselors, psychologists, occupational therapists, teachers, and you, gathered around, discussing your child. With so many stakeholders, it is easy to see why conflict comes up in these meetings.

We offer the following supports:

  • Consultation before the meeting. We will work with you to clarify your goals, define problems areas, and brainstorm solutions you can propose.
  • Support at the meeting. We can attend these meetings with you, by your side, leveraging our decades of experience in education to help bridge the gap between home and school.
  • Ongoing support. If you do not believe your child's IEP goals are being served, you may convene a meeting of the team. We are happy to guide your steps as you advocate for your child's needs to be met.

Mediation

Bridging the gap between home and school.

When home and school do not agree on goals or plans for your child, you or the district may request mediation with a neutral third-party. It is difficult to find mediators who are experienced in special education; we are happy to help. Because we have worked within the public education system, we speak both languages: the language of concerned parents, and the language of school administrators.
